The AlcoMate Plus Model AL5000P is an alcohol detector that employs an advanced integrated semiconductor gas sensor. The AlcoMate Plus measures your blood alcohol content within a range of 0.00% to 0.40% BAC, in .01% steps increments. AlcoMate AL5000 plus delivers .01% or 10% accuracy at 0.10% BAC.
The AlcoMate Plus is equipped with a user replaceable pre calibrated sensor module that eliminates the need for sending your device to ASD labs for routine calibration. This is a must have feature for breathalyzers on board of vessels as required by the US Coast Guard. The Al5000 Plus has been replaced AlcoMate Prestige.

The AlcoMate AL5000 Plus was discontinued in 2008 and is no longer supported by ASD. The AlcoScan AL5000 has been replaced by the more enhanced AlcoMate Prestige AL6000.

What is the difference between the AlcoMate Prestige and AlcoMate AL5000 Plus model?
The AlcoMate Prestige is the 2nd generation version of the AlcoMate AL5000. The AL5000 Plus was the first breathalyzer to feature a replaceable sensor module. However, to change the sensor, the device must be opened and was difficult for most users. The AlcoMate Prestige improves upon the concept by making the sensor much easier to replace.
How many tests can I perform with the AlcoMate AL5000 Plus before I have to replace the sensor?
Under ideal testing conditions, the AlcoMate AL5000 Plus should perform roughly 300 tests before needing a sensor replacement. Continuous testing with higher amounts of alcohol may potentially wear out the sensor faster.
I am trying to use my device but it displays a 6 then a backwards 6 and a half e. What does this mean?
The device is attempting to display the characters for "bat" which is the low battery indicator. Simple replace the batteries with a brand name battery and you device will perform the full test.
